The Rivian R2 will be the first vehicle from the brand to arrive in Europe
After starting to deliver the first Rivian R1S and R1T, the time has come to go a step further and present a new, more compact model.

For years we have been reading about Rivian and its two models, which are ready to be delivered in the United States. But the brand’s intentions do not stop there, and they are working on a third model. It will arrive in the coming years and aims to occupy a space below the other two models. Apparently, it will be a more compact Rivian R1S, with a more compact body and plans to reach other markets beyond the American one.
In fact, it will be the brand’s showcase model in Europe or Asia. For now, it has been presented as a sample mock-up, covered under a tarpaulin. It has not been possible to see it, but one can guess a shape very close to the Rivian R1S, though smaller. In principle, it will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Georgia, where work has been done to solve the problems that the brand’s first models had at the time.

A model arriving soon
This mid-size electric SUV wants to carve out a niche in a market that is increasingly crowded with similar models. The company’s intention is for the definitive image of the model to be revealed very soon. The presentation is expected to take place in early 2024, and sales in the United States are expected to begin over the course of next year.
Rivian has also announced the price it could have in the United States, which will serve as a guide to anticipate the price it will have on the European market. That said, no final price has been given; rather, a range from 40,000 to 60,000 dollars. A margin that is still very wide before the final price is known. Even so, it seems it will sit around 50,000 dollars, and perhaps slightly above that figure.
This compact electric SUV will have as its direct rival the Tesla Model Y, which in the United States has a starting price of 47,740 dollars, so for it to become a real option against this model, it will need a competitive price to attract potential buyers.
