Lexus will debut the new Multistage Hybrid system in its redesigned LS 500h. The flagship of the Japanese brand will be unveiled next March at the Geneva Motor Show.

The high-performance hybrid powertrain of Lexus offers greater acceleration and traction, as well as superior efficiency. This innovative propulsion system allows the new LS 500h to reach cruising speeds of up to 140 km/h with the petrol engine disconnected.

The Multistage Hybrid system was first installed in the brand’s new luxury coupé: the LC 500h. Now, the LS 500h introduces this technology with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that will be paired with two electric motors.

The Multistage Hybrid system allows speeds of 140 km/h with the petrol engine disconnected. This remarkable hybrid combination of powertrains will surpass the performance offered by the standard LS 500h. The Multistage Hybrid system brings the following improvements to the new LS 500h: greater throttle response, a higher cruising speed at low revs and the ability to reach speeds of up to 140 km/h with the combustion engine switched off. In addition, fuel consumption and emission levels have been improved. The new LS 500h with the Multistage Hybrid system preserves the smooth, quiet and sophisticated driving character that defines Lexus hybrids.

However, what surprises most about this model’s mechanics is the presence of a four-speed gearbox, although Lexus assures that this transmission will feel very similar to the 10-speed gearbox fitted to the standard LS 500h. In this way, the transmission of the new flagship of the luxury brand is expected to offer a linear, direct and continuous response.

Lexus has always been characterised by offering great comfort and interior quality in its vehicles, and the new LS 500h will be no different. The luxury saloon will have an approximate length of 5.20 metres, so it will offer ample space for the comfort of its occupants.
