The safety of the BMW allowed this driver to walk away from the crash

Totally unusable, a total write-off. That is how this BMW looks, and those are the first thoughts that cross our minds when we see the image. This BMW 328xi had better days before its owner had an accident that “involved” two trees and six consecutive rollovers. The BMW took the worst of it, but the driver walked away unharmed.

The lesson here is that, judging by the photo, only the cabin kept its shape, with the airbags deployed, although had there been a passenger in the rear seat, the damage would have been much more serious. I don’t want to think about what would have happened had the same accident happened to a car from about 10 years ago, even one from the same brand.

Of course, we are talking about one of the most expensive cars from German brands, and from a well-known make. But accidents also involve a degree of luck; there are not enough guarantees to say that a car from another European, Japanese or German brand would have protected its driver just as well. And needless to say, had this been a Chinese or Indian car, the damage would have been worse and the driver would probably not have survived.
