We are now less than a month away from the 90th edition of the Geneva Motor Show kicking off, specifically for the general public on 5 March, although beforehand the media will be able to walk through its halls and stands to see first-hand the presentations the brands will make, which visitors will then be able to enjoy.

Those days leading up to the show will be frantic, with so many events scheduled, among which, incidentally, is the world premiere of the new Škoda Octavia RS iV, the most sporty and emotional variant of the renowned Czech saloon. As is usually the case before seeing the models in person, Škoda will surely release the first official images, but first, to help pass the time while we wait, the brand has treated us to sketches of the Octavia RS iV, allowing us to see more features of its sporty design.

It is true that the year began on a busy note for the sporty variant of the Škoda Octavia, the result of the rumours we enjoy as a prelude to a presentation that undoubtedly generates anticipation. But it is also true that, because of this, the brand hurried to confirm them before the rumours ended up revealing its sporty saloon ahead of time. The first was that the Škoda Octavia RS will also adopt the “iV” designation and, in addition, the brand confirmed that it will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain, for which we already have confirmation of its power.

We do not know whether the new Škoda Octavia RS iV will also offer a conventional combustion engine, but based on Škoda’s statements everything suggests it will be powered solely by a plug-in hybrid system, making the Octavia RS iV the first sports vehicle in the VAG Group to offer this technology. Pending more specific figures on this hybrid system, Škoda states that the combined power will be 245 CV, thus combining sportiness with reduced consumption and contained CO2 emissions.

Regarding the sketches provided by Škoda, as we can see and as the brand itself confirms, the Octavia RS iV will be offered as a saloon with coupé-style lines, featuring a more pronounced sloping roofline, as well as in the “Combi” bodywork the brand reserves for its estate variants. Both models will feature specific elements such as the black front grille, the front apron with air intakes and a specific colour, large specific alloy wheels, a rear diffuser, and a spoiler on the boot lid for the coupé-style saloon and on the roofline for the Combi variant.
