The Smart ForTwo electric already has an official price in Spain

A few days ago we reported on the start of production of the electric Smart, which will be sold in more than 30 countries. Today the official prices it will have in our country have been revealed. Although reservations can already be made, it will not be until next year, in January, that the first units are delivered.

As we had already reported, there are two options for purchasing the Smart fortwo electric drive. The first of these involves buying the vehicle and renting the batteries for 10 years, or buying the Smart with the battery pack.

The first option has a price of 18,950 euros for the coupé and 21,450 euros for the cabriolet version. To this price must be added the battery rental, which is about 65 euros per month, representing an additional cost of 7,800 euros over a 10-year contract. If the option chosen is buying the vehicle plus the batteries, prices rise to 23,000 and 25,500 euros for the coupé and cabriolet, respectively.

This means that the additional price of buying the batteries is about 4,050 euros, compared with the 7,800 euros that renting them costs, that is, there is a saving of 3,750 euros. However, renting the batteries includes a warranty on them for the whole contract, whereas if they are only purchased the warranty lasts two years.

On the other hand, remember that the Smart ForTwo electric drive has a 75 CV motor that allows it to accelerate from a standstill to 60 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 125 km/h.
