The Subaru Justy is history as of January

From next month, Subaru will stop selling the small Justy in Europe, as sales had fallen dramatically in recent months. Fingers on one hand were enough to count the units sold in Spain last month, while in Europe it has managed to sell only around 10,000 units over the last two years.

The Justy first appeared in Europe in 1994 as the direct successor to the Suzuki Cultus. It has always relied on small engines, and the latest one offered by the brand (at least in Spain) is a 1-litre, three-cylinder unit with fuel consumption that is more than good, given the small engine.

But the Justy’s place in the range will be taken by another model built on Toyota technology (the result of the same collaboration as the FT-86). The Subaru Trezia is set to arrive within just a few months and, to give you an idea of the model, it is enough to say that it uses one of the engines from the Toyota Yaris.

The Trezia will offer two petrol engines (1.3 and 1.5 litres) plus the 1.4 diesel engine offered by Toyota. And as a kind of tribute to the early Justy models, it will also offer the option of all-wheel drive.
