Tesla has just announced new details about the top-of-the-range Model S and Model X, which include a new 100 kWh battery pack that delivers more power and more range. With this update, Tesla states that the Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode has become the fastest production car in the world. According to the company, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration figures prove it. It takes this car only 2.5 seconds to reach that speed, which appears to back up that title.

This new battery not only allows the car to reach that speed in such a short time, but also increases its range. On the EPA cycle, used in the United States, the range is 315 miles, while in the European Union it reaches 613 kilometres. With this battery, the models fitted with it can exceed the 482 kilometres they could previously cover. They also become the electric models with the greatest range on the market.

The electric model is updated and improved

The Tesla Model X P100D with Ludicrous mode also presents impressive figures, as it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. In terms of range, it offers a considerable 289 miles on the EPA cycle and 542 kilometres in the European Union. It does not match the figures of the Model S, but it keeps it at the forefront of electric cars.

According to Tesla, owners of any Model S P90D with Ludicrous mode can access this new 100 kWh battery pack for an extra $20,000, which includes the cost of recycling the old batteries. Those who ordered a P90D with Ludicrous mode but have not yet received it can upgrade it for an extra cost of just $10,000.
