The Tesla Roadster gets an Italian makeover with the Tesla IED EYE Concept

One of the most renowned design institutes in Europe and America, we are talking about the Istituto Europeo di Design, in Turin, Italy, has partnered with Tesla Motors to develop an electric model that is a bit more accessible for a supposed average buyer than the Roadster. The project was carried out for the institute’s transportation design master’s programme.

The Eye Concept would be electric, of course. The dimensions of the 1:1 model (the prototype that will be presented without a motor) are around 4.3 metres long, and it would have very particular features if it were ever put into production, since it can change its appearance from a coupé to a pick-up or conventional cargo vehicle.

Tesla Motors sponsored this project, which will be presented at the Geneva show, although not as a launch of its own Tesla. The Eye Concept is not going to replace the Tesla, and it does not even have any possibility of production. The Italian IED will also present an adaptation of a Panda 4×4, called the Pygmy, and a very particular version of Aston Martin.
