The Toyota Camry Hybrid gets an update for 2021

Sooner than is usual, Toyota has decided to subject its flagship saloon to a review and update. The new Toyota Camry is the result of the evaluation and modification of the generation that, finally, has been on sale in Spain since 2019. The version that will be in dealerships offers a double refresh, aesthetic and technological.

Subtle aesthetic changes

The Japanese company announces changes to the front end. In fact, the bumper is the main protagonist of the update which, although it appears to be a transition towards the look of the brand’s other saloon, pending the arrival of the Toyota Mirai, the Toyota Corolla Sedán Electric Hybrid, loses the distinction created by the convergence of the lines that bore the weight of a photograph of a vehicle showing dynamism in its incision against the wind.

Regarding the overall appearance, the manufacturer has added one more colour to the palette available, incorporating another grey alongside those already offered, Deep Metal Grey.

Optionally, new wheels have been included in the catalogue allowing greater personalisation of the car, some in 17 and others in 18 inches.

Technological update of the 2021 Toyota Camry

The new Toyota Camry seeks to deliver a higher level of satisfaction during the on-board experience, as it has been built to be a vehicle for use and enjoyment, above all on long journeys, and mainly for the occupants of the rear seats, but under the command of whoever is driving.

A move based on the same mechanical layout, which keeps the same hybrid setup as the first batch, that is, one that produces 218 CV from its 2.5-litre petrol engine.

Regarding its comfort, entertainment, information and safety technology.

As for interior space, although also optionally, it is now possible to have something we already missed during the first drive of the 2019 Toyota Camry: more eye-catching upholstery with greater presence.

From the 2021 Toyota Camry specification, it is possible to request leather-upholstered seats, as well as more striking door trims and the addition of more sensory details such as trim mouldings in a wood-effect or mesh-like finish, which together add a more premium aura.

Visually and practically, the new multimedia system replaces the previous one, and the new Toyota Camry features a screen one inch larger in diameter, at 9 inches, which has been relocated to improve the viewing of its information while driving.

As for technology, the Toyota Safety Sense safety package includes assistance and aids unknown until now, such as an alert and automatic braking system in case the driver of the Camry starts a turn just before the car detects another vehicle or pedestrian approaching from the opposite lane ahead.

For those that had already been fitted, the well-known systems have been improved, making the city emergency braking system and the active cruise control more effective.
