The Toyota RAV4 in the GR Sport trim is now available in Spain

Toyota has managed to position the RAV4 as the best-selling SUV in the world but also as one of the best-selling models within any class, which demonstrates the brand’s good work through its reliability, design and a lineup that suits any taste. Now the RAV4 will have one more incentive to remain the best-selling model, as the new GR Sport trim is now also available in Spain.

Announced last October, Toyota is starting sales in Spain of the RAV4 GR Sport, a name that signals the sporty traits it acquires and that joins the brand’s other models that also carry it, such as the Yaris, the C-HR, the Corolla and even the Hilux pick-up. Let us now recall what the RAV4 GR Sport offers, since in addition to a sportier trim it also comes with interesting equipment.

With the RAV4 GR Sport the brand aims to reinforce its image and, to that end, the front grille now features a honeycomb pattern, giving the impression of being larger. The same effect applies to the fog lights, whose boomerang-shaped surrounds are now in gloss black, a finish also applied to the grille, the headlight trims, the front and rear bumpers, the wheel arches and the mirror housings, rounded off with dark grey lower protections and 19-inch wheels, designed by GR Sport, which also help reduce the weight of the whole. It is worth noting that with this trim you can choose exclusive Gazoo Racing body colours.

Stepping inside, the upholstery chosen for the seats is a suede-style fabric combined with synthetic leather in the bolster areas, while the distinctive note comes from the silver-grey stitching, also present on the steering wheel and gear lever, not forgetting the GR logo embossed on the headrests. This ambience is complemented by dark grey and piano black inserts, along with a very interesting standard equipment list that includes items such as the following:

Mechanically, the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport features the brand’s hybrid system, consisting of a 2.5-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor to deliver a combined system output of 222 CV, with which it accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and records a combined consumption of 5.8 l/100 km along with CO2 emissions of 132 g/km under the WLTP cycle. Later on, specifically in 2024, a plug-in hybrid version will be available with an output of 306 CV, its acceleration to 100 km/h reduced to 2.1 seconds, and an electric-mode range of 75 kilometres.

It is worth noting that the RAV4 GR Sport expresses its sporty character not only through its styling but also through its mechanics, as it features all-wheel drive thanks to the AWD-i intelligent system, which also incorporates an automatic limited-slip differential control when Trail mode is activated. To this we must add a specifically tuned suspension and the incorporation of stiffer springs, thereby improving agility and stability, especially on fast bends.

The new Toyota RAV4 GR Sport is now available at the brand’s dealerships in Spain, with prices starting from 50,600 euros.
