The Twin Turbo engine of Ferrari roars around Fiorano

Over the last few days, an amateur video has captured on camera a Ferrari test mule running around the Fiorano circuit. What is curious is not the California visible in the images, but the engine hidden under its front bonnet, a Twin Turbo V8.
The prancing horse brand continues to test this new powerplant day after day, which will almost certainly be used for a more powerful version of the Ferrari California. Rumours also point to this engine being introduced in the most radical variant of the 458 Italia. That latter option is not certain. Ferrari should use an updated version of the naturally aspirated V8 for the 458 Monte Carlo rather than the new-generation Twin Turbo V8.
It is still early to talk about the performance of this V8 with two turbochargers of the same size, but it is very possible that the power figure will exceed 550 CV, something straightforward for this class of engine. Moreover, the acceleration and in-gear response of a supercharged engine is undoubtedly better than a naturally aspirated engine with the same declared power.
Since the F40, Ferrari has not used a turbocharger in any of its different engines, but current trends dictate, and it is possible that to improve the performance of its upcoming vehicles without giving up low consumption, it will be necessary to turn to forced induction and leave naturally aspirated engines aside for the large V12s.
