The upcoming Qashqai will be influenced by the concept of the Nissan IMx
The zero-emission prototype of the Nissan IMx presented at the Tokyo Motor Show features some details that we will see on the next Qashqai.

On the occasion of the recent Tokyo Motor Show held last week, Nissan presented the IMx concept, a zero-emission model that will not go into production, but will help design the brand’s next-generation compact SUVs.
Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s global vice president of design, told the publication AutoExpress in an interview that although we will never see the IMx on the streets, the prototype will be key in helping design the next generation of the Qashqai. The concept will influence large SUVs such as the Qashqai or the Rogue (sold in the USA), but it will not affect smaller subcompacts such as the Juke.

Although the model’s innovative design looks like a car of the future, the vice president made it clear that for the company it reflects how vehicles will look within three years at most. The Nissan IMx is built on a new platform developed by the company for electric cars that aims for maximum efficiency. Albaisa made it clear that some details such as the front fender or the roof design will not be included in its future models.
The IMx concept features two high-performance electric motors located at the front and rear with all-wheel drive. The brand claims the range exceeds 600 kilometres.
According to several rumours, the next Nissan Qashqai will arrive before 2020, will be manufactured in Sunderland on the same platform as the Leaf and will feature the ProPILOT autonomous driving technology. In fact, the current model already incorporates driver assistance systems such as accelerator and braking control. The brand has not yet confirmed whether the vehicle will come with IMx features.
