The Vigo plant of the PSA Group has produced more than 400,000 vehicles in 2017

Despite the hard economic times this country has suffered, there are some sectors that are flourishing considerably. Among these we find the automotive sector, a commercial segment whose figures are increasing considerably. On this occasion, the protagonist is the PSA Group, which enjoys excellent sales results thanks to its attractive and affordable products. But this is not the only essential factor for its success; the factories where the models of the French brand are produced are equally important.

The PSA Group has been relying on the city of Vigo since 1958, the year the factory was founded. Without a doubt, it was a safe bet, as it is one of the plants that has produced the most vehicles for the French group since its opening. 59 years later, the PSA Group can proudly announce that more than 400,000 cars have rolled out of the Galician factory.

This is reflected in a considerable increase compared to last year. PSA’s production of models in Vigo has grown by 2.56% compared with 2016, which is very beneficial for the brand. Even so, this has not been an easy task for the brand with the lion and the double chevron, since it has required a great deal of work throughout its years of existence.

At present, several models are produced at the Galician plant, among which we should highlight the Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, C4 Picasso and the Peugeot 301 and Citroën C-Elysée. These vehicles are some of the most successful of the French group, alongside city cars and compacts. On the one hand, PSA’s vans have enjoyed an exact production of 253,810 units, making them the most manufactured models at the factory. This is due to the brand’s large commercial customer base, which turns to these models for their unbeatable value for money.

On the other hand, the C4 Picasso has a production of 106,580 units in 2017. This vehicle is not only ideal for large families, but it is also the official car of the security forces. But that is not all: the saloons of the PSA Group also enjoy great success and boast a total of 74,470 units produced. The Peugeot 301 is a vehicle aimed at the South American market, where it is a real success thanks to its low price and the quality of the materials used.

Without a doubt, this is excellent news for the PSA Group, since a large number of its products are experiencing great success not only in France, but in many other countries to which the firm sends its models. At the same time, the success of this plant will ensure greater job growth and the creation of new jobs, which is necessary to keep progressing.
