NIO ES8: the all-electric SUV with over 600 CV arrives
NIO has just unveiled the new ES8, a 100% electric SUV with over 600 CV. The main novelty is the battery swap service the SUV offers.

Electric cars are gradually reaching our market and, without a doubt, they are a clear alternative to petrol and combustion engines. On the other hand, much has also been said about the future of sports cars in a world where electrification leads the way, but manufacturers have already put our doubts to rest. Several electric models now show outrageous performance, and now comes NIO, a Chinese company that has just unveiled the ES8, a 100% electric SUV.
NIO wanted to show the rest of the world that they are also capable of producing high-performance electric vehicles without having to spend huge amounts of money. On the other hand, the ES8 aims to be conservative and, despite being an electric model, it forgoes a radical and extravagant style in favour of a much more traditional design that stays true to what we know as an SUV.
This is something we can see reflected in its exterior design, which is characterised by typical SUV features, but with a certain refined and modern touch. On the other hand, it also features first-class build quality, as most of the ES8’s body is made of aluminium. However, the most impressive thing about the whole package is the powertrain that brings it to life.

Inside the NIO ES8 we will find two 70 kW batteries that give the Chinese SUV an approximate range of 335 kilometres, a fairly impressive figure. The brand has also launched an innovative system that will make the experience with the ES8 much more enjoyable. This is the option to swap the batteries for a fully charged one in just three minutes.
This will be possible thanks to the more than 1,000 stations NIO plans to install in China. Once these stations are built, swapping the battery in our ES8 will be much quicker and more convenient than filling up the petrol tank of our car. At the same time, the electric SUV offers a maximum power of 652 CV and acceleration to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
On the other hand, technology is also very present in the new ES8 , as we can see thanks to the personal assistant the car includes. It is called NOMI and is an artificial intelligence that can interact with the driver. It also has 23 sensors designed to carry out autonomous driving.

Without a doubt, the NIO ES8 presents itself as a very worthy alternative to the Tesla Model X, as it undeniably meets all the features of the American SUV. For the time being, the ES8 will only be seen in China, with a starting price of 448,000 yuan, roughly 60,000 euros at current exchange rates.
