The Volkswagen Golf eighth generation warms up its engines with the final phase of testing

The wait is over. Volkswagen has just announced that the new Golf will arrive this autumn, loaded with technology and innovation.

It will be in autumn when Volkswagen unveils the eighth-generation Golf for the first time, which may coincide with one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Frankfurt Motor Show. That’s right, the people from Wolfsburg are about to reveal the latest iteration of their compact icon, which has just entered the final testing phase before moving on to the production lines. Meanwhile, the German brand has maintained a deafening silence regarding the details, which are scarce and, despite having spotted a supposed GTI variant, there are still many mysteries surrounding this new Golf.

In recent years we have witnessed how the compact segment has left behind its humbler image to fully embrace the technology of the contemporary world. The new Volkswagen Golf will be a clear example of this and, although the German firm has not revealed much about its favorite son, it has offered a series of quite revealing hints.

Beyond the superficial and a more advanced, modern design, this eighth-generation Golf is ready to offer much more than its predecessors. Starting with a cabin where technology and digital screens will be the clear protagonists, to a range of engines that will embrace mild hybridisation, traditional hybridisation and electricity.

Final Testing Phase Of The New Golf Has Started

The connection with the driver and passengers will also be substantially enhanced with the new Volkswagen Golf. At the same time, the engineers of the German firm have wanted to take advantage of this renewal to introduce the first steps towards autonomous driving, so it would not be far-fetched to expect the presence of various systems in the top versions of the Golf, ready to guide the car without our intervention.

Of course there will also be room for variants bearing the GTI and R badges and, although it is risky to speculate about their performance, it would not be surprising if their sportiness were supported by a second electric motor. With this premise, we can be sure that Volkswagen wants to make a statement with the new Golf, a model set to revolutionise the compact segment.

Without a doubt, the arrival of the eighth-generation Golf is generating great expectation, since it will not only be the one to reveal the path its siblings in the range will follow, but also to set the course for its main rivals. As we have mentioned, it will be this autumn when Volkswagen gives the green light to present the Golf, bringing this wait to an end.
