The Volkswagen Golf GTI will get a 45 Aniversario version and it has already leaked

Volkswagen is about to unveil the Volkswagen Golf GTI 45 Aniversario, a special edition that has leaked ahead of time.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI can be considered one of the most illustrious sporty compacts of all time. Irrefutable proof of this is its seventh generation, which continues to display sporty handling combined with a noble character suitable for everyday use. However, Volkswagen’s engineers have known how to tighten the bolts on their compact par excellence, creating versions such as the Clubsport or the R, but there is more. The German firm will soon present the 45 Aniversario version of its GTI, which has already leaked.

For now, the German firm maintains a deafening silence on the matter, so nothing has been confirmed yet. However, the leaks that have emerged for this model suggest that we are looking at a more radical -and special- version of the German compact, whose starting point was probably the GTI Clubsport.

With this premise, we find a spicier look than that of the conventional GTI. The front features a more prominent bumper flanked by a considerably sized air intake and a more aggressive splitter. The side sports multi-spoke alloy wheels specific to this variant and side skirts with a sporty graphic and the number 45 in reference to this special edition.

The rear puts the finishing touch with a more pronounced spoiler, a sporty diffuser and a double cylindrical exhaust outlet that, apparently, has a larger diameter than that of the conventional GTI. The interior has not leaked, but details typical of the 45 Aniversario are expected, with badges, upholstery and probably more sporty bucket-type seats.

However, the high point of the Volkswagen Golf GTI 45 Aniversario will be found in its mechanical section. This is where the well-known 2.0 TSI four-cylinder turbocharged engine will sit, an engine that on this occasion could produce slightly over 300 CV and will be paired either with a 7-speed DSG gearbox or a six-speed manual.

Either way, considering that Volkswagen already has official images of the model, we can assume it is only a matter of weeks or even days before it is presented. In this way, the Wolfsburg company continues its tradition and offers an even more exclusive GTI, probably subject to a limited production run as an incentive and to differentiate it from the Clubsport.
