Volkswagen launches the 1.2 TSI 105 cv engine in the Polo, the turbocharged powerplant that from now on will give new life to the car that was recently named Car of the Year. The new engine will be available in the Polo Advance and Sport versions and will offer one more option for those who want from the Polo acceptable acceleration for a car of its type, along with restrained fuel consumption.

With this engine, the Polo will receive 105 CV of maximum power, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds with a top speed of 190 km/h. Consumption and emission figures are attractive: 5.3 litres per 100 km and 124 g/km of CO2 emissions. Compared with the engine of the previous 1.6-litre model, consumption falls by 1.4 litres and CO2 emissions by 35 g/km respectively.

The 1.2 TSI reaches its maximum output at 5,000 RPM and its peak torque of 175 Nm between 1,550 and 4,100 RPM. This new Polo 1.2 TSI comes as standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which can optionally be replaced by the 7-speed DSG gearbox developed by Volkswagen.

Those who want a little more from the Polo, don’t despair, since in a few more months the GTI version of the Polo will be presented in Spain. Below is the price guide for the Polo with the new 1.2 engine option.

  • 1.2 TSI 105cv Advance / 15,540 €
  • 1.2 TSI 105cv Advance DSG 7-speed / 16,970 €
