The Volkswagen Touareg simulates an R version with 330 CV thanks to ABT
The Volkswagen Touareg has decided to show us a sportier side with the help of ABT, which has managed to extract 330 CV and 660 Nm of torque from its powerful V6 TDI

ABT has long been in the habit of treating us to some modification of the vehicles from the Volkswagen Group, and it wanted to prove this once again with the Touareg. Not long ago, we saw how the German tuner played with the newly arrived Audi Q8, a model that shares countless mechanical components with its close relative, the Volkswagen Touareg. With this premise in mind, ABT without hesitation decided to do the same with the German SUV and apply a series of improvements, both aesthetic and mechanical, with the aim of offering what could be an R variant of the Touareg.
It is common for ABT to offer an external design in keeping with the new performance hidden under the bonnet of its subject, a pairing we can appreciate in the Volkswagen SUV. In this way, we find a Touareg ready to delight its users with its characteristic elegance, but enhanced by a series of components that exalt its new character.
At first glance, we find numerous black details, which seek to convey a more aggressive and imposing attitude. Part of the front has received this colour, as has the rear, aiming to match perfectly with the new wheels supplied courtesy of ABT, which come in 20 or 22 inches -depending on the buyer’s preference- and with a unique design.

The German tuner has also taken the opportunity to ensure that its customers feel they are in a more special and unique environment, so it has modified the welcome lights so that they project the ABT logo onto the ground. However, it is in the mechanical area where the company has made the most changes to considerably improve the Volkswagen Touareg.
ABT has used as its base the well-known 3.0-litre TDI V6, an engine capable of delivering 286 CV of power and an impressive 600 Nm of torque. These figures move the Volkswagen Touareg with ease, but ABT has decided to apply a series of modifications to the ECU with the aim of having the six-cylinder “V” develop a total of 330 CV and 660 Nm of torque.

In this way, the tuner aims to bring us closer to a version of the Volkswagen Touareg that not only seeks to emulate an R variant, but unmistakably recalls the R50 and its charismatic 350 CV V10 TDI. This is how ABT offers its customers a spicier and sportier Touareg, while still maintaining its comfort and ride quality intact.
