The Volvo EX30 will be the entry-level electric SUV in the Swedish range
Volvo wants young people to get closer to its electric vehicles, so it has prepared a small compact SUV that will arrive in 2023 and will be presented soon.

The arrival of electric vehicles is something we are getting used to. There are many models ranging from the most luxurious cars to the smallest, city cars with lower performance. Volvo is taking advantage of its alliance with Geely and is using the Chinese giant’s infrastructure to improve its contribution to electric mobility. The brand’s new proposal from Sweden is a compact SUV that will serve as the entry point to Volvo’s electric range.
The length is expected to be between 4.20 and 4.30 metres, so it will be a fairly compact vehicle. Development of this model began several years ago, when Hakan Samuelsson was still the company’s Chief Executive Officer. That said, there have been several changes to the initial project, which was originally named XC20.

However, several things remain unchanged in this project. Among them, the platform remains the base of the vehicle. This is the SEA platform, which is also used in the Smart #1, so the Swedish brand’s SUV could have similar characteristics.
In the case of the Smart #1, the platform allows a 66 kWh battery pack to be fitted, which provides a range of around 400 kilometres. The model’s length also matches the announced specifications, such as its length of 4.27 metres. The electric motor produces a power output of 200 kW, equivalent to 268 CV.
The launch date has been set for next year and, according to the brand, this will be a boost to its line of electric vehicles. In fact, they expect around 1.2 million vehicles of this type to be sold in 2025. Volvo’s strategy involves launching more affordable models, such as this Volvo EX30.
In addition, the design of this model will allow many young people to get closer to the brand, which has traditionally had older buyers. To help make this happen, there is an option that could be appealing to them: subscription. The new market that is emerging among users’ tastes will likely more readily accept paying a fixed amount each month, rather than purchasing a vehicle.
The price of the Volvo EX30 and the amount it would cost with the subscription are not yet known, so we will have to wait and see what information the company offers in the near future.
