The Zenvo Aurora debuts a new engine and moves closer to production

The Zenvo Aurora has received a new hybrid V12 engine, bringing it even closer to a production version, which we will be able to see at the Goodwood Festival.

It has been a couple of years since we had the chance to see the Zenvo Aurora, which was presented as a supercar with an imposing V12 engine. This spectacular car was launched in two versions with hybrid engines that promised remarkable power and an imposing driving experience. And after a while without hearing anything more about this model, we have received an update on it.

It has just been announced that the Zenvo Aurora has received a new engine, which will deliver all the performance that a project of this kind deserves and which will boast, precisely, a hybrid V12 engine. That is to say, this powerful engine will be accompanied by three electric motors.

This engine is called “Mjolner”, after Thor’s legendary hammer. Its power is no small matter, since the 6.5-litre V12 engine delivers 1,250 CV. This engine is accompanied by four turbos, which makes it the most powerful V12 engine fitted to a production car.

Alongside this combustion engine are three electric motors, which provide an additional 600 CV. Combined, this hybrid powertrain delivers 1,850 CV.

The combustion engine was manufactured by Mahle and uses a system called Jet Ignition. This technology is used in Formula 1 and is present in the Maserati MC20. It uses a jet ignition pre-chamber, which allows more powerful and efficient ignition. It has been announced that the energy efficiency of this model rises to 45%, well above the average for this type of engine.

The engine has been built following a modular structure, so the door is open to a V8 and even a V6, which would offer less power but at the same time would make this model more affordable and versatile. By the way, the Zenvo Aurora’s tubular chassis is manufactured in Spain, even though the model is Danish. The manufacturer Managing Engines is responsible for this component, which it produces at its plant in Madrid.

With this model, the brand wants to play in the same league as hypercar makers Koenigsegg, Bugatti or Rimac. We will see the result at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June.
