These are the ten most sold used cars in 2021

Spain is a country where a large share of total annual vehicle sales belongs to the used car sector. This is closely linked to the high average age of the country’s current vehicle fleet, which stands at 13.1 years.

The average age of used vehicles sold so far in Spain is 11.74 years, and, to the surprise of many, the most in-demand fuel has been diesel, with a total of 621,314 units of used cars sold, followed by petrol vehicles, of which 390,281 used cars have been sold. In last place, with a modest 18,141 units sold, we find petrol hybrids.

Let’s get to the point

At the top of the list of most sold used cars in this first half of 2021 we find the Renault Megane, of which a total of 38,175 units have been sold, with an average age of 12.9 years for the French compact.

In second place we find a classic in the used car sector, one of those that always appears on all the best-seller and most-searched lists. This is the Volkswagen Golf, which follows the Megane closely with 33,431 units sold and an average age of 13.3 years.

To complete the podium we have the Seat Ibiza. This small Spanish compact is one of those cars you see most often every day because of its excellent value for money, which is why 33,431 units have been sold, with an average age of 13.3 years.

Fourth place goes to the Spanish cousin of the Golf, another classic among classics. It could be none other than the Seat León, of which a total of 29,711 units have been sold, and which has the youngest average age of the top five in this list, at 9.9 years.

In the middle of the table…

In the middle of the list we have the Ford Focus, of which 28,663 units have been sold, with an average age of 12.1 years. As you can see, all the cars we have found on the list so far belong to segment B or segment C, that is, compact cars.

Continuing with the list, in sixth position we find the Renault Clio, the smaller sibling of the Megane -the king of the list- of which a total of 23,171 units have been sold.

In seventh position is the star car of the brand with the lightning bolt, the Opel Astra, of which a round 20,000 units have been sold during this first half.

In eighth place we find the Citroën C4, the only representative of the French brand on this list of the 10 most sold used cars in 2021. In total, 19,829 units of the French compact have been sold.

The next place goes to the Opel Corsa, of which a total of 18,187 units have been sold. A model that, since its birth in 1982, has been manufactured solely in our country at the Figueruelas plant.

The last place on the list goes to the small Volkswagen Polo, of which 17,107 units have been sold in total.

The 5 models that have generated the most interest

As a point of interest, the five used vehicles that have generated the most interest so far in 2021 are the BMW 3 Series in first place, followed by the Volkswagen Golf, then the Seat León, in next place the Mercedes C-Class and finally the Audi A3.
