When we thought Chinese cars were made of weak and cheap materials, the electric cars from BYD have arrived, the BYD SEAL and BYD DOLPHIN, and have caused a stir among various enthusiasts by earning a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety tests, consolidating their position as benchmarks for safety within their respective categories. This achievement highlights the innovative technology of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and the revolutionary Blade Battery, which reinforce the safety of these vehicles.

Both models, the BYD DOLPHIN, a five-door hatchback in the C-segment, and the BYD SEAL, an elegant saloon in the D-segment, achieved an impressive 89% score for adult occupant protection, demonstrating their commitment to passenger safety. In addition, they reached a solid 87% for child occupant protection, underlining their ability to keep passengers of all ages safe.

The key to this success lies in the advanced technology of BYD, especially the Blade Battery, which ensures greater safety in the event of a collision after successfully completing numerous safety tests. The e-Platform 3.0 of BYD features a highly integrated propulsion system and a “multi-load path structure” that minimises intrusion into the cabin in the event of an accident, providing exceptional protection.

One of the most notable aspects is the innovative Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, which strengthens the body structure, giving the BYD SEAL a torsional rigidity similar to that of a supercar which, combined with adult occupant protection, guarantees a high level of safety for all passengers.

In the child occupant protection tests, both the BYD SEAL and the BYD DOLPHIN scored 87%, minimising the impact on critical areas of the child dummies’ bodies in frontal and side impact tests. Furthermore, safety assist systems such as the Autonomous Emergency Braking system (AEB)1bydsealeuroncap earned outstanding recognition for their ability to protect vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.

BYD Europe’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Shu, expressed his enthusiasm for this achievement, highlighting BYD’s commitment to safety and environmentally responsible technological innovation. Shu stressed that customers can trust that safety is a priority

in all of the brand’s innovations.

BYD SEAL
Available in two versions,
Design and Excellence-AWD, the new BYD SEAL is offered with two propulsion systems, both with an 82.5 kWh battery. The Design version features a 230 kW (313 hp) electric motor with rear-wheel drive, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and achieving a combined-cycle range of 570 km (WLTP). The BYD SEAL is also available with all-wheel drive in the Excellence-AWD version, which has one electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear (160 kW + 230 kW), giving it a total output of 390 kW (530 hp). The powerful Excellence-AWDSeal Detalles De Interior 2023118 version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, while offering a combined-cycle range of 520 km (WLTP).

BYD DOLPHIN
The BYD DOLPHIN
with a 60.4 kWh battery offers a reassuring combined-cycle electric range of 427 km (WLTP1). Maximum three-phase AC charging power is 11 kW and, at DC charging points, it can charge at up to 88 kW, taking just 29 minutes to raise the battery from 30% to 80%. The BYD DOLPHIN is also equipped with V2L (Vehicle to Load) bidirectional charging, so the car’s battery can easily power external devices. The BYD DOLPHIN with the 44.9 kWh LFP Blade Battery has an estimated range of 340 km (WLTP) for the Active version and 310 km (WLTP) for the Byddolphin(6)Boost§h81§. The remaining technical details will be announced as the arrival of these two versions, scheduled for the first quarter of 2024, approaches.
