This electric model from Volkswagen is capable of covering up to 940 km on a single charge... do you know which one it is?

Volkswagen makes a strong statement to show that electric driving with its ID.7 Pro S model can no longer be an obstacle when choosing an electric car. After a test on the Nardò circuit, in southern Italy, this electric vehicle managed to cover 941 kilometres on a single charge, exceeding the combined WLTP range of 709 kilometres by 32.7%.

And that’s not all: it has also proven to be one of the most efficient electric vehicles on the market, delivering incredible consumption figures that are quite hard to find in other models, of just 9.2 kWh/100 km. In Europe, sales of the ID.7 have already surpassed those of the iconic Passat, reflecting a paradigm shift in consumer preferences towards electric vehicles.

The Nardò test

The test was carried out in December under controlled conditions and temperatures between 5 and 15 °C. The vehicle used was a production model, with no technical modifications, equipped with an 86 kWh net battery and the highly efficient APP550 drivetrain.

Professional drivers from Volkswagen Driving Experience covered the Low Speed Ring circuit in Nardò, a 12.5-kilometre ring designed to replicate a variety of traffic scenarios. The average speed during the test was 29 km/h, simulating typical conditions during rush hour in large cities.

To put the achievement into context, the average consumption of the ID.7 Pro S is equivalent to 1 litre of diesel per 100 km, an unprecedented figure in the world of electric mobility.

The keys to its efficiency

The success of the ID.7 Pro S lies in a combination of technical and aerodynamic factors that maximise its performance:

1. Cutting-edge aerodynamics: With a drag coefficient of just 0.23, the ID.7 Pro S ranks among the most aerodynamic models in its segment.
2. APP550 drivetrain: This electric motor, mounted on the rear axle, delivers 210 kW (286 CV), a maximum torque of 545 Nm and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.6 seconds.
3. Ultra-fast charging capability: Thanks to a charging capacity of up to 200 kW DC, the vehicle can add 244 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes and charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 26 minutes.
