This Ferrari 250 GTO could sell for 60 million dollars
The Ferrari 250 GTO is one of the rarest models from the prestigious Italian marque. Dating from Ferrari’s golden era, this model could sell for 60 million dollars.
A Ferrari 250 GTO, one of the most special models from the Italian racing team from its golden era, will go up for auction, and if you want one, you may need to win a lottery that pays a rather substantial prize.

It is not as rare as many of you might think for a 250 GTO to come up for sale, even considering that only 36 were built back in the day. Yet it is such a sought-after piece that its collector value keeps rising, which leads many investors to see this model as an opportunity to make a profit.

Like all its siblings, this GTO has a long and rich history behind it. Its chassis, 3413, was the third 250 GTO ever built. It has numerous race wins and class victories in the hands of drivers and owners who are, almost exclusively, great names in the annals of collecting Ferrari.
At the beginning of the sixties, it was modified with the latest trends in its bodywork and chassis by Ferrari itself and its well-known partners, Pininfarina and Scaglietti, and after this it went on winning races. This car won its class at the Targa Florio twice, in both 1963 and 1964. It also won its class at the 1962 Italian Hillclimb Championship and, in its final period, its racing career ended with a victory at the 1965 Redex Trophy held at Brands Hatch.

Among its recent owners, notable names include driver Edoardo Lualdi-Gabardi and the well-known Ferrari collector Beil Corner and Lord Anthony Bamford, the man behind JCB and other pieces in a collection of the rarest Ferrari cars.
This time, it has been put up for sale from the collection of Dr Gregory Whitten, who is said to own a wide array of ultra-rare cars. In Dr Gregory’s favour, it must be said that he has always allowed this unique Ferrari to be seen and has used it regularly, including at several GTO anniversary events.

It is a true classic in every sense, with racing history and pedigree behind it, and it has always been used in the way Ferrari intended when it built it. It is the kind of car for which people will pay huge sums of money, and it seems someone is about to do so. The most approximate estimate of its price is around 60 million dollars.
