This is, finally, the complete line-up of the new Top Gear

Top Gear

The revamped Top Gear is now underway, finally with a closed team of presenters after months and months of rumours and trickle-in announcements.

There will be six co-presenters in total, seven if we count the invaluable help of The Stig, who will lead what has been the most popular motoring show in the world up to now.

Following the abrupt end of the world-famous trio of presenters -Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson- the BBC quickly set to work on a complete overhaul of this entertainment slot, with the aim of keeping the millions and millions of viewers who tuned in every week around the world hooked.

The first confirmation was that of Chris Evans, a popular presenter and broadcaster over in England, whose passion for motorsport has always been well known. Little by little the premiere date of the new season of Top Gear drew nearer, and still nothing was known about who would present the show.

In fact, it was only a few days ago that we learned the official confirmation that one of the co-presenters of the new Top Gear would be none other than the actor Matt LeBlanc, who would immediately become the first presenter of non-British origin in the programme’s 39 years of history.

The new Top Gear is scheduled to premiere on 8 May, so there are still a few months of waiting ahead

It is only today that we have learned who will finally make up the programme’s presenting line-up, more numerous than ever. For quite some time there had been rumours of a possible addition of both driver Sabine Schmitz and presenter and driver Chris Harris. Both rumours have materialised this very morning, when the BBC confirmed them.

The other two remaining presenters are former F1 driver Eddie Jordan and journalist Rory Reid. The latter was selected through the public casting process the channel organised to find a presenter for the show. In total, as we said, six presenters plus the ever-present The Stig, whose true identity, as is customary, remains unknown to us.

We are eager and impatient for the premiere of this revamped motoring slot, a global benchmark, scheduled for 8 May. In the meantime, the previous trio of presenters continues working on their new programme, which will be broadcast by the giant Amazon, and whose premiere date we do not yet know.
