This is how the Bentley Bentayga Speed is built: 127 hours of manual work for each car

Luxury cars usually have a manufacturing process that goes beyond machining and assembly, and the Bentley Bentayga Speed is no exception

The Bentley Bentayga is a truly spectacular car that receives a great deal of care from the workers who assemble each unit. It shares its platform with the Volkswagen Touareg, but it is a different car, with different values and an elegant touch that goes beyond what we expect from a German car. That is why the manufacturing process of each Bentley Bentayga involves a great deal of manual work and far less work done by robots.

The total number of hours needed to build each unit of the Bentley Bentayga is 127 hours, roughly 16 working days. Every step of the process undergoes exhaustive inspection and is carried out by several specialists in each of the fields needed to shape the vehicle.

This model is built at the Bentley factory in Crewe, United Kingdom. It is the same factory that has housed the brand since 1946, and it has benefited from a major injection of money to modernise the facilities and accommodate the production of this and other models. In total, 586 million euros have been invested by Volkswagen, and the result is the one you can see in the video.

Specifically, 10 hours are used to select the wood installed in the interior and to work it, giving it the required shape and finish. Another 8 hours are devoted to finishing the interior decorative details; 24 hours to paint and apply the necessary finishes to the bodywork; 13.4 hours to install and adjust the engine; 19 hours to assemble all the parts, and the remaining 52.5 hours needed go to final adjustments, quality control and the completion of each unit.

The Bentley Bentayga Speed arrived in 2018 after the launch of other versions of the Premium SUV, such as the V8, Design Series, Diesel and Hybrid, and has established itself as the top of the range for the model. Unlike the Bentayga equipped with the 6.0-litre W12 engine, the Bentayga Speed offers 26 CV more, reaching 635 CV and a maximum torque of 900 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds, and it reaches a top speed of 306 km/h.
