This is the Skoda Kylaq, a small SUV for the Indian market

This small SUV model has been created for the Indian market and will go on sale in 2025, so we still don’t have much information about it.

The Indian market is one of the most important in Asia. The size of the country and the number of potential buyers make it a good market for many brands around the world. Skoda knows this and that is why it has just unveiled a new small SUV aimed at that market, the Skoda Kylaq.

This model, which will be presented on November 6, represents the entry-level range of SUVs in this country. To shape it, the Modern Solid design language has been used, which has been applied to other recent models from the brand, so it is very similar to them.

The Kylaq measures 3,995 millimetres in length, and it is the first time the Czech manufacturer has built a car under 4 metres long. The wheelbase is 2,566 millimetres, so it offers a comfortable interior space. This size will allow the Kylaq to move comfortably through city streets, but it will also be able to handle off-road terrain with ease.

The images we can see show the car covered in green and black camouflage, and it is recognisable as a car from the brand. At the front we can see new headlights, with the daytime running lights positioned independently. The grille is also eye-catching and gives a very attractive look.

There are other elements on the bodywork that give a fairly effective picture of the model. For example, the fixed roof rails and the shark-fin antenna stand out. At the rear we find a more restrained design that shows a simpler style.

This model is based on the MQB A0 IN platform of the Volkswagen Group, which is also used in the Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Skoda Slavia and VW Virtus, other little-known models from the group aimed at this market. As for the engine, it will be fitted with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder unit.

This delivers 114 CV of power and a maximum torque of 178 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. An automatic gearbox will also be available as an option.

To put it to the test, Skoda claims that it has covered more than 800,000 kilometres with the car. With the tuning of the Kylaq and its launch, the Czech brand aims to consolidate sales in the Indian market, which reached 100,000 units sold during 2023.
