This McLaren 720S Spider could be one of the most special ones thanks to its MSO paint

McLaren and its MSO department have been able to bring to life this very special 720S Spider, which features a triple paint finish with 260 hours of work.

Nowadays many automotive brands offer different levels of exclusivity to their customers, and McLaren was not going to be an exception. The Woking-based marque has for years allowed its most loyal clients to turn to the MSO department – McLaren Special Operations – to obtain that differentiation from other models. After having admired various engineering works through this English division, it is now the turn of the McLaren 720S, with the featured unit carrying a unique paint that makes it very possibly the most special 720S Spider to date.

After laborious work both in developing the shade desired by the customer and in its application, the English firm has finally completed the project. In this way, MSO has once again shown its ability to fulfil every request from future owners, who can ask for anything from a unique paint to a different bodywork or an upholstery tailored to each person’s taste.

“Coriolis” is the name used to christen the process employed to develop this triple shade that sits across the bodywork of this very special 720S. At first, we notice a first layer finished in black, but we quickly appreciate the integration of a second blue and a third in the same colour but a different tone.

Cerulean Blue, Burton Blue and Abyss Black are the colours used to satisfy the wishes of the fortunate owner of this English supercar. At the same time, a total of 260 hours were required to apply each and every layer that gives the final colour seen on this 720S. Likewise, various techniques related to airflow were employed to achieve the final result.

From a mechanical or dynamic standpoint we find no difference, since this aspect has been respected at all times. Thus, it still features the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 720 CV and 770 Nm of torque, figures that catapult the supercar of McLaren to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, a figure complemented by a top speed of over 340 km/h.

This is how McLaren and MSO have once again demonstrated their undeniable potential when it comes to meeting the needs of their most special clients. At the same time, it would not be far-fetched to consider this 720S Spider the most special unit to date, a title that could be taken away by another MSO product or by that future, more radical variant everyone is eager for.
