This Volkswagen Golf R has 600 hp and its 75-year-old owner is a true petrolhead
This impressive Volkswagen Golf R boasts 600 hp, a feat accomplished by its 75-year-old owner who shows off his most petrolhead side.

They say love knows no age, something usually applied to romantic relationships, but since at Highmotor we don’t run on blood but on petrol, we apply this saying to the purest love a petrolhead can find, that between man and machine. Today we came across a video that fits this case perfectly: that of a 75-year-old man and his incredible, thoroughly modified Volkswagen Golf R. Without a doubt, it is a clear example that cars and performance know no age, and today we will tell you more about this particular case.
The protagonist of the video also owned a modified BMW M135i but, over time, decided to set aside the world of six cylinders and focus on something more modest yet just as “squeezable”. The Volkswagen Golf R presented itself as the perfect candidate for this 75-year-old Briton, who decided to apply as many modifications as possible, turning the German compact into an authentic supercar-devouring machine.
The owner of this spectacular Golf R has decided to invest as much money as time in making it to his liking, but the best part is that he has managed to create a true wolf in sheep’s clothing. On the one hand, we find a Volkswagen Golf R that is completely stock in its styling but, if we lift the bonnet, we realise the German compact hides much more in its guts, where this nearly octogenarian Briton has changed a multitude of components.

The creator of this Golf R states that in his past he has owned numerous powerful vehicles, but that the German compact has been one of the easiest to modify compared with the M135i, to which he had to apply more changes. A larger turbo, ECU modifications, a new air filter and intercooler are some of the elements that have been upgraded under the bonnet of this impressive Golf.
Let us recall that the vitaminised compact from Volkswagen houses under its bonnet a 2.0-litre TSI engine capable of producing 310 hp and 380 Nm of torque as standard, although the unit featured in the video does not have the facelift and when it left the Volkswagen factory it had 300 hp, a figure that did not last long. The 75-year-old owner has managed to obtain a total of 600 hp, a figure that catapults the Golf R into supercar territory.

Without a doubt, this man is a clear example that love for cars endures for life, making our instinct as a petrolhead shine in any situation. This Volkswagen Golf R is special not only for its high degree of modifications, but also for the spirit shown by its owner and the joy that the German compact is capable of delivering with 600 hp under its bonnet.
