Top Gear is back

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be entertaining us again on Sunday afternoons in less than two weeks: Top Gear returns on 26 June. What can we expect from the new season (number 17, no more and no less)?

The first thing you can do is take a look at the video below, but I’ll give you a summary and tell you a few things that don’t appear in it.

To start, we’ll have a comparison test of the Citroën DS3 Racing, Renault Clio Cup and Abarth 500C through the streets of Monaco (although also through areas of northwest Italy). Richard will travel to South Africa to test the massive Marauder, a vehicle (almost a truck) built by Paramount Group and resistant to landmines.

For his part, Jeremy will test the McLaren MP4-12C on the Top Gear test track, and James May will do the same with the Aston Martin Virage. The test track will also witness the clash between the Jaguar XKR-S and the Nissan GT-R that Jeremy will carry out. Ah! And I mustn’t forget that the BMW Series 1 M will also be put to the test.

There will also be a special feature to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type, a journey with electric cars (more information) and a comparison of used luxury cars (they are believed to be a BMW, a Bentley and a Mercedes).

Of course there will be no shortage of madness, and one of the stunts will be the attempt to build trains out of cars.

The new season looks promising, doesn’t it?
