Urban mobility is something brands are taking very seriously, especially when applying everything they know about electric mobility to the vehicles they design. And it is increasingly common to see small models, designed for getting around city centres. Toyota has just put the C+pod on sale, a small city car that will initially be available to fleets.

The car has a length of 2.49 metres, a width of 1.20 metres and a height of 1.55 metres. The wheelbase is 1.78 metres, so it offers generous interior space for a car of its kind. Ground clearance is 145 mm and the turning circle is 3.9 metres, which is very suitable for city driving.

The exterior is covered in plastic panels, which helps reduce the weight considerably to 650 kg in the entry-level version and 20 kg more in the top version. It has two seats and is very well equipped, as it includes heated seats, air conditioning and digital instrumentation, among other things. Night and day detection of other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists in daytime mode are some of the most notable safety features.

As for traction, it consists of an electric motor delivering 9.2 kW, the equivalent of 12.5 CV and a maximum torque of 56 Nm to the rear axle. It has a top speed of 60 km/h, and the battery powering the system has a capacity of 9.06 kWh. The range this battery provides, located in the floor of the car, is 150 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.

The car is aimed at fleets, at least initially, but it will also reach the private market in 2022. For now, the entry-level price is 13,045 euros, while the top version costs 13,570 euros at current exchange rates. Yes, because for now it will only be available in Japan, although it would be good if it reached our country too.
