Toyota Land Cruiser 2018: this is the new version of the pure off-roader

The new Toyota Land Cruiser renews its look and incorporates far superior technology compared to its predecessor.

Toyota has launched the new Land Cruiser, the latest version of one of the few pure off-roaders still left on the market. The first units of the 2018 Land Cruiser will arrive at Toyota dealerships in the coming days.

The Land Cruiser is the Toyota model sold in the greatest number of countries worldwide, more than 190. It is one of the most durable and reliable 4x4s on the market, leading its segment in more than ten European countries. The model now receives a new exterior design, more modern and robust, a higher perceived-quality cabin, more sophisticated and more comfortable, and better dynamic capabilities.

Design renewal and greater interior space

The new Toyota Land Cruiser has a fully renewed front end, with new headlights, taillights and alloy wheels. The interior has been thoroughly redesigned to enhance functionality, perceived quality and occupant comfort. With controls grouped functionally and ergonomically optimised, the new dashboard integrates a large 8-inch screen that operates the Toyota Touch 2 & GO multimedia system, with navigation. In addition, there is a 4.2-inch multi-information display, controlled by switches located on the steering wheel.

A capable powertrain and more sophisticated 4×4 systems

The new Land Cruiser uses a 177 CV 2.8 D-4D turbodiesel engine, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. The Japanese off-roader offers an official combined consumption of 7.4 l/100 km, with remarkable performance: a top speed of 175 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 12.1 s.

The 4×4 capability of the new Land Cruiser has been enhanced with a new option that allows the choice of two rear differential variants: open or Torsen-type Limited Slip Differential (LSD).

The Multi-Terrain Select System —Multi-terrain Select System (MTS)— has been improved with the addition of an AUTO mode, which is activated automatically with the Crawl Control function, offering five different speeds. In addition, the 360º View Monitor functions have been expanded to include Under Vehicle View, Front View Rotation, Panoramic View and a wider Rear View.

The latest in safety

Like the rest of the Toyota range, the Land Cruiser includes Toyota Safety Sense, the suite of active safety and driver assistance technologies designed to prevent or mitigate collisions in a wide range of traffic situations. Combining a camera and a millimetre-wave radar, the new Land Cruiser’s Toyota Safety Sense includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB). The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and the latest version of the Tyre Pressure Warning System (TPWS) are further driver assistance and safety systems in the new Land Cruiser.
