Toyota Sequoia 2023: debut of the imposing SUV that will only arrive in the United States
The new generation of the Toyota Sequoia has just been unveiled, featuring a fresh design, a generous technology package and hybrid technology for its powertrain

The Toyota Sequoia is one of the most imposing crossovers that the Japanese brand sells in North America. An SUV that rivals models such as the Ford Expedition, the Dodge Durango and the Lexus LX 600, combining a huge interior space, an all-powerful engine and off-road capabilities of a high standard.
Now, the Toyota Sequoia debuts a new generation boasting greater efficiency, technology and design, and it is also worth noting that Toyota offers as an optional package the TRD Pro trim, which in addition to giving it a tougher look, further improves its capabilities as an off-roader.

Its new features
Starting with the design of this robust crossover, the front of the new 2023 Sequoia features a bumper with very pronounced and muscular shapes and a grille that, depending on the trim chosen, will come with the traditional Toyota logo inserted in the centre, or with the Toyota lettering.
From the side view, especially with the TRD Pro package, the Sequoia features pronounced style lines on its fenders and hips, plastic wheel arches or beadlock-type wheels for the TRD versions, or wheels of up to 22 inches for the most equipped versions.

At the rear, the SUV for North America features new horizontally arranged taillights joined by a chrome-finish trim and fairly conventional bumpers with a lower guard giving it a more off-road look.
A major improvement in its technology
Inside, the new Sequoia features a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system as its centrepiece, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Both are supported by the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which offers multiple navigation services and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

As you would imagine, the Sequoia offers enormous interior space, with a choice of three rows of seats to accommodate up to 7 passengers, or the option to fold down the third-row seats to provide greater cargo capacity in the boot.
Great capabilities
Under the bonnet, the new generation introduces as its major novelty a hybrid system (HEV), as it features a 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine paired with a small electric motor, allowing it to produce 443 CV of power and 790 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.

With all this, the brand claims the new Sequoia can tow loads of up to 4,000 kilos and offers off-road performance of another level, especially with the TRD Pro pack, which adds Fox-branded shock absorbers, a rear limited-slip differential, the Multi Terrain Select system, an underbody guard and an LED light bar to improve lighting.
For now, Toyota has not announced prices, although it has said that the first units will go on sale from next summer.
