Toyota unveils two special editions of its GR Yaris alongside its WRC drivers

The Japanese brand has unveiled two special editions of its popular sports compact at the Tokyo Motor Show, alongside Sebastian Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä

The 2023 Tokyo Motor Show was the stage chosen by Toyota to present two new special editions of its popular GR Yaris, created to celebrate its success in the WRC in recent seasons alongside its official drivers Sebastian Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä.

Both editions are based on the Toyota GR Yaris RZ High Performance, to which the names Sebastian Ogier Edition Concept and Kalle Rovanperä Edition Concept are added respectively, as each of these special editions has been fine-tuned by each of the drivers.

Two options to suit every taste

Starting with its design, the GR Yaris Sebastian Ogier Edition features a very exclusive and elegant look, highlighted by a matte silver paint that contrasts with the 18-inch forged wheels, while the grille, mirror housings and rear spoiler are finished in black. In addition, Toyota has fitted electric blue brake calipers and black door decals bearing the Toyota Gazoo Racing badge.

In the case of the GR Yaris Kalle Rovanperä Edition, the brand has opted for a more striking and radical design, with a graphics package made up of white, black and red, large GR logos on the doors, hips and tail, and a larger spoiler and diffuser that bring the compact closer in appearance to its WRC counterpart.

Although no images of the interior of the two special editions have been shown, Toyota has confirmed that the interior will feature a small identification plate displaying the name of the special edition in question.

Differences in handling

As far as the mechanical side is concerned, both the Sebastian Ogier Edition and the Kalle Rovanperä Edition are equipped with the 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine producing 271 CV, whose torque has been increased to 390 Nm through a series of modifications.

As the icing on the cake, Toyota will also offer its customers the option to adjust the throttle response, as well as the traction system and steering.
