Varley evR450: Australia also knows how to build electric sports cars

From Australia comes another electric sports car, the Varley evR450, from Varley, a company dedicated to manufacturing electric vehicles that have nothing to do with sports cars.

The electric car business can even flourish thanks to companies that had little to do with building sports cars, but that have experience manufacturing electric vehicles for other uses, such as Varley. This Australian company has built airport service vehicles or forklifts for factories. Until today.

The Varley evR450 is similar in appearance to several sports cars, but at its core it is purely electric. Although no technical specifications are given, those behind the evR450 announce a top speed of 200 km/h and an acceleration of 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Its announced range is 150 kilometres, with the option of another 150 if we apply an “extension pack”.

Although the evR450 is still a sample prototype, it has already been shown to the public in Australia at certain events related to electric mobility, and it is announced that it “will be seen on the streets” during the first months of 2012.

The planned price, if it does go on sale, would be the equivalent of less than 150,000 euros.
