Volar-e by Applus+ IDIADA Presented

This beauty before you is the 1,000-horsepower Spanish electric sports car, which already has a name in case it is commercialized: the Volar-e. The vehicle was presented today, with Formula 1 pre-season tests as the backdrop, at the Catalan circuit of Montmeló.
The truth is that it is impressive, not only for its look of “it’s going to devour the road”, but also for its technology, developed in Spain. Let us recall that the European Commission has commissioned Applus+ IDIADA to build this sports car, a project that could eventually go into series production in Spain.

It is powered by four electric motors, one per wheel, with a total of 1,000 horsepower and a torque of 1,000 Nm. These figures translate into jaw-dropping performance, since it can reach a top speed of 300 km/h, accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in just 8 seconds and from 0 to 300 in 14 seconds. It weighs 1,700 kilos, with a multi-tubular body and a fiberglass chassis. It also features a regenerative braking system and other additional details, such as an Itorq traction control system designed by Idiada.
It is a shame the weather did not cooperate, as the Volar-e’s demonstrations had to be carried out on a wet track. Let us hope that next time we are able to see the model in person in all its splendor on a dry track. Reaching 300 in 14 seconds, accelerating all the way, must be an unmatched experience. In the meantime, reader GD kindly pointed us to the following video, where we can see the Volar-e in motion.
