Scirocco Volkswagen Coupés Photos Tests
Volkswagen Scirocco Hurricane 2.0 TDI 140 CV DSG, road test (Exterior design, interior and trim)

Somewhat late after the first part of the test, we continue analysing the Volkswagen Scirocco that is the star of this article. We have tested the Hurricane limited edition, which adds more equipment at a competitive final price. The engine chosen has been a 2.0 TDI of 140 CV, paired with a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
In the first part of the test we talked about the Scirocco’s performance, with a diesel engine more than sufficient for everyday use and which also allows a certain amount of fun behind the wheel. Now in the second part of the test we focus on the design section, both exterior and interior.
Exterior design

Here is the most important part of a Volkswagen Scirocco, its exterior. You may like it more or less, but there is no denying that the car has its own personality, with a sporty front and a coupé rear that has as many detractors as fans.
The front has a sharp design with the headlights as the protagonists. In our unit these were bi-xenon, but the daytime running lights were bulb-type and of considerable size. It is a pity that LEDs cannot be fitted; if xenon is equipped, both lights end up white.
The R-Line exterior pack is present, both on the front and rear bumpers, 18-inch alloy wheels included in the R-Line pack and the sporty interior steering wheel also within this pack. The price of all this equipment (included in the Hurricane version) is 2,645 euros.

On the side profile we find large doors and 18-inch alloy wheels (R-Line), with dimensions of 235/40 R18, that is, wheels aimed at the road with a low profile, something that is noticeable when we go over potholes or poorly seated drain covers.
At the rear we find rounded-shaped lights with a darkened touch (again R-Line finish), the twin side exhaust outlets, as well as sporty-style bumpers.
Interior design, space and finishes

When we move to the interior we find a car with a low, sporty driving position, something purists will appreciate. This sportiness is also offered by the seats, with excellent lateral support (R-Line finish). That said, the access is consistent with the model, that is, a Golf is easier to get into than the Scirocco (this should be taken into account if elderly people are going to ride in the car, although for most drivers there will be no problems).
The same applies to access to the rear seats, which is somewhat complex as the seats must be folded and the roof height is low, another factor that complicates access to the rear seats. That said, once seated, the two sporty rear seats are very comfortable and hold the body well, with adequate legroom and slightly tighter headroom.

Returning to the front of the car, the dashboard has a design typical of Volkswagen, that is, sober shapes and quality materials. Soft, pleasant-to-the-touch plastics abound, the fittings are of high quality and overall we cannot find any complaints regarding finish quality.
The centre console houses the radio screen (RNS 510 navigation system with 8 speakers) and below it the climate controls, that is, a centre console of simple but practical design.
Storage and boot

As for storage spaces, the door pockets of the front doors stand out (although they are not very deep), there is also a compartment in the centre console (in front of the gear lever) and several cup holders in the centre tunnel. At the rear there are also two small pockets on either side, though small in size.
The boot has a capacity of 312 litres, a normal figure, but at least it is quite usable and has regular shapes.
In the final part of the test we will talk about the equipment, the safety equipment present in the Volkswagen Scirocco and the model’s prices, as well as our assessment of the car.
