Volkswagen confirms a production version of the Golf R400

It was presented at last year’s Beijing Motor Show and won everyone over, but now that project is set to become a reality, and this is not my claim but that of a Wolfsburg executive, who has confirmed it to the British magazine CAR. So, at Volkswagen they are already working on the model, and the most powerful version of the Golf range will have more than 400 CV.
Heinz-Jakob Neusser himself states that this Volkswagen R400 would reach us slightly modified from the model presented at last year’s Beijing Motor Show. In reality, the main change would be the engine, which would receive a small potential upgrade. From the originally announced 400 CV, we would move to a figure of around 420 CV. Furthermore, it is expected that the four-wheel drive system will be retained once again.

Nevertheless, the look of this compact will be very similar to that of the Golf GTI and Golf R, but with a new aerodynamic kit. It is also set to receive larger brakes to withstand the increase in power, while additional hardware updates will be implemented to handle the powerful engine.
This model will be part of the range and can be purchased like any other unit, with no production limitations. It is also likely to be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, with deliveries at the end of this year or early 2016.
The price on the market is a separate matter, since it is expected to cost around 50,000 euros. That said, in return we will have in our hands the fastest production compact in the world, with the permission of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Final Edition (473 CV), which is available only in the Japanese market.
