Tiguan Volkswagen Electric Cars SUV
Volkswagen confirms the arrival of an electric version of the Tiguan
The popular mid-size SUV from Volkswagen will get a fully electric version in its third generation, which will be built at the Wolfsburg plant
Exactly one week ago, Volkswagen posted an advert on its social media announcing that a new model would soon be unveiled as a major addition to its product portfolio. It showed only its wheels in motion and a small detail of its camouflage, a feature that confirmed it is the new Volkswagen Touareg which will be presented this coming summer.
However, the protagonist of today’s German brand is not the full-size SUV from Volkswagen, but its smaller sibling, the Volkswagen Tiguan. A model that holds the title of the brand’s best-selling SUV and which now, thanks to a series of reports published by Volkswagen itself, we know will have a 100% electric version built at the Wolfsburg plant.
The plant will receive new electric versions
Currently, the Wolfsburg factory is responsible for producing models such as the Volkswagen Golf and the Tiguan. In addition, there are also plans for the small ID.3 to be built at this mega-factory of the brand, where it would share space with the third-generation Tiguan in its combustion and electric versions and with the popular Golf, for which there are also rumours of a 100% electric version, as we have already told you in this post.

Pending more details about the Tiguan’s facelift and, consequently, its electric version, the mid-size SUV will be based on the MEB+ platform, which will allow it to offer greater range and charging speed, specifically ranges of up to 700 kilometres and charging speeds of between 175 kW and 200 kW, a major improvement over the current MEB platform, which supports a maximum power of 135 kW.
With all this, the electric Volkswagen Tiguan will be one of the 10 electric models the brand plans to launch by 2026, in order to increase its share of electric vehicle sales and remain competitive with rivals.
