Volkswagen Electric Cars Concepts Salón de París
Volkswagen I.D Concept, the Germans are betting on electricity

Volkswagen has presented what it considers one of its biggest bets of recent years. This is the I.D Concept, an electric prototype that marks the steps of the German brand’s electric mobility strategy.
It was at the Paris Motor Show that Volkswagen decided to unveil this major novelty to the world, one that will not reach the market until 2020.
The I.D Concept from Volkswagen is one of the most important vehicles from the German giant, although it may not seem so at first. This prototype is the first real representation of a model that will mark Volkswagen’s move into the electric car market.
Built on the modular electric platform of the Volkswagen Group (MLB), the I.D Concept has a look similar to what a Golf might be in concept form. The brand claims that, despite its compact dimensions, the I.D Concept offers interior space similar to that of a current Passat.

In terms of performance, this prototype stands out with an electric range of over 400 km, which at launch will reach as much as 600 km. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 8 seconds, with a top speed of 160 km/h thanks to an electric motor producing 168 CV.
The technology in this concept will later be applied to production vehicles, also creating an electric “model line” that would accompany “conventional” models with electric technology, somewhat like what currently happens with the VW e-Golf and e-Up!.
