ID.4 Volkswagen Electric Cars Other Sedans
Volkswagen ID.4, a preview of Germany's next electric vehicle at the Guangzhou Motor Show
The new electric model has been previewed at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China, so we can start to see what awaits us in 2021, when it arrives

The presence of electric cars in the Volkswagen lineup is growing all the time. That is why we are keeping an eye on everything this German brand has coming up. Soon it will open an exhibition on the past and future of Volkswagen electric mobility, with the presentation of a new electric model. It is not expected to be the Volkswagen ID.4, since that model has already been seen at the Guangzhou Motor Show. Though, it must be said, heavily camouflaged.
This model could be seen on the brand’s stage at this Chinese show, although its full design could not be made out because of the brightly colored camouflage it was wearing. The location was not chosen at random: this show, less well known in Europe, was picked because the Volkswagen will be assembled in China, alongside the Volkswagen ID.3.

The Volkswagen ID.4 was already shown at the past Frankfurt Motor Show, although it was displayed inside a glass case, with very little light so that the car could not be seen in detail. The use of camouflage, which stops both the eye and the cameras from picking up the bodywork details, means we cannot focus on details that are not yet final. We may see some change to its configuration, but it is expected to be minimal.
This new electric car from Volkswagen is built on the MEB platform and represents the immediate future of the German brand. It will arrive in mid-2021 and will follow the ID range after the Volkswagen ID.3, which will be ready for sale in 2020.
The changes we can see on this prototype are to the tailgate, the B-pillar treatment and the wing mirrors. The front, with its LED headlights, daytime running lights, black wheel arches and side skirts, stays the same, so we know these changes are present in the latest design phases of the model. Now we just have to wait and see which electric car they will show us in Los Angeles and find out whether there is a new addition to the ID family or whether this is the definitive ID.4.
