Volkswagen ID.Buzz: its price will be around 40,000 euros

We now have a start date for the distribution of the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz, the German electric van that pays tribute to a classic and which already has a price.

Volkswagen Id Buzz

In 2017, Volkswagen announced the arrival of a version of the legendary Volkswagen Westfalia Camper, sold in the 1960s. This version was going to be an update of that iconic model, and its main feature would be that it would be fully electric and would be part of the Volkswagen ID family. We now know for sure that it will reach the market in 2023 and that it will be called ID.Buzz.

The electric model will be based on the MEB platform, which offers efficient electric mobility. Initially, and referring to the concept version, it featured a 111 kWh battery, although the latest news from the German brand confirms two versions for this innovative model, the first electric van in this range.

The entry-level version will have a battery with a capacity of 60 kWh, which will give the ID.Buzz a range of 300 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. The 100 kWh version will reach 500 kilometres, also on the WLTP cycle, offering a greater range for those who want to make longer journeys without worrying about battery charge.

Besides this, the brand has shared another piece of information that we consider quite important. We now know the approximate prices of this new electric vehicle, which aims to recover the essence of a classic model much loved by the brand’s van enthusiasts. The price of the ID.Buzz will be between 40,000 and 60,000 euros, depending on the chosen configuration.

There will also be a version that will offer autonomous driving capability, allowing a fairly high level of automation. With this automated version, work on autonomous driving can continue and more advanced services can be offered. The service this version will offer is robo-taxi.

In other words, the user will be able to request the service via their mobile phone. This variant of the ID.Buzz will go to wherever the requester is, pick them up and take them to their destination with complete comfort and without needing any driver to deliver the service. This will, of course, require more complex work and will take considerably longer to arrive. In the meantime, we can enjoy this electric van in its production version in a couple of years.
