Coinciding with the debut of the Volkswagen Polo R WRC at the Monte Carlo Rally, the brand is opening worldwide orders for its street version. It is limited to 2,500 units, which will use the 220 CV engine and cost €34,650.

This special edition features the character of the WRC and presents a series of elements and styling that set it apart from the rest of the range. On the exterior it has exclusive “Caglari” alloy wheels measuring 18 inches, fitted with 215/35 R18 tyres.

The bodywork colour is “Blanco Puro”, combined with black-painted mirrors, blue brake calipers, a specific R spoiler in gloss black and WRC-design vinyl graphics. Moving to the interior, the Polo R WRC comes with a higher level of equipment aimed at maintaining the sporty look of its exterior.

This includes heated sports front seats in Alcantara with specific WRC design, automatic climate control, RNS 315 radio navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen and 6 speakers, aluminium pedals and a multifunction steering wheel with WRC logo and blue stitching. The equipment is also completed with systems such as the XDS differential to limit understeer in corners, self-levelling Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, the Night & Polo pack and rear parking sensors.

As for the engine, it is the 2.0 TFSI, which delivers 220 CV of power at 4,500 rpm with a maximum torque of 350 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The gearbox is manual with six speeds. Finally, this version of the Polo is limited to 2,500 units for the entire global market at a price of €34,650, so we’ll have to wait and see how many Polo R WRC we get to see on our streets.
