Volkswagen Polo GTI Edition 25, a limited edition to celebrate its quarter century

Although a sporty GT version of the Polo was already launched in 1979, it was not until 1998, with its third generation, that it could finally wear the always special GTI badge, which has accompanied it through the sixth generation currently on the market. Since then, 25 years have passed, a quarter century of the Polo GTI that Volkswagen wants to celebrate in grand style.

To do so, what better way than with a limited edition for all the brand’s fans and especially those of this small sports car, a limited edition named Polo GTI Edition 25 and that will be limited to 2,500 units worldwide. As expected, this edition will be characterised by unique details both on the exterior and the interior.

The Volkswagen Polo GTI Edition 25 can be chosen in any of the available colours in its palette, to which the Solid Grey has been added, which will be combined with other elements painted in another colour such as Brilliant Black, applied to elements such as the roof, the wing mirror housings and the exclusive Adelaide 18-inch alloy wheels, behind which hide red brake calipers, the same red also applied to the side mouldings and the lower detail line of the front grille, which also features a honeycomb mesh.

Inside, the special details focus on a main upholstery for the seats in perforated black leather, although the front part of the side bolsters and the thighs will have a solid texture and be painted red, plus the GTI badges embroidered in red. Red also appears on other detail mouldings, in addition to the GTI badges printed on the Brilliant Black mouldings. The door sills feature a moulding engraved with the unit number.

In addition, the Volkswagen Polo GTI Edition 25 stands out for its extended standard equipment, among which we can highlight the following items:

Where there are no surprises is in the mechanical section, since the Polo GTI Edition 25 continues to use the 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI engine delivering 207 CV, mandatorily paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and attain a top speed of 240 km/h.

For now, its price on the Spanish market remains unknown, although Volkswagen has already confirmed that from 1 June it will be available in Germany from €35,205.
