Volkswagen prepares the VW Polo R for 2011

For those who cannot afford the Volkswagen Golf, but are looking for a sporty option from the German brand, next year VW will launch the Polo R, with even more power than the announced Polo GTI. In Wolfsburg they are putting the final touches on the engine that will be the 1.4 TSI, with 190 horsepower.

As if to keep the brand’s customers happy, the Polo R will have more available power than two very serious rivals. Compared to the Seat Ibiza Cupra, it beats it by 20 10 CV, while against the Polo GTI itself it would outperform it by another 20 CV (the latter with a turbocharger and supercharger). Astonishing, what they have squeezed out of the 1.4. This new variant of the Polo will also feature the XDS electronic differential as standard, the same one that began to be fitted to the Golf GTI, the Scirocco R and the Seat León Cupra, which greatly improves grip when cornering.

The announced top speed for the Polo R on the road is 230 km/h, with consumption of 6.5 l/100 km. The price, already anticipated, would be around 26,800 EUR.
