Volkswagen Concepts Eventos Salón de Detroit SUV
Volkswagen reveals the 7-seat SUV it will present in Detroit

The German brand’s offering in the US includes the Touareg and the Tiguan. While the former is already known in Europe with its 5-seat configuration, the importance of the seven-seat family vehicle market in the US justifies the presentation of a new SUV that will be based on the new MQB platform.
This concept will be one of the brand’s presentations within a few hours, when the Detroit Show opens. For more details we will have to wait a few more days, but we can tell you that it will be a 7-seater positioned (by price) between the Touareg and the Tiguan.
If Volkswagen decides to bring this concept to market, in the US it will compete with the Nissan Quest and the Toyota Highlander in a similar price range. Along the way, they would remove from the catalogue the Volkswagen Routan, a model manufactured by Chrysler through a joint venture and which is being quite questioned within the German brand.
Thanks to the fact that it will be built on the aforementioned MQB platform (from which a vehicle as different as the European Polo has also been developed), manufacturing costs would not be so high, so it is possible to offer it at a lower price than the Touareg. We will have to see what results this concept can achieve once it is produced, since there are many brands in the Americas that will be competitors and will not make life easy for the new Volkswagen family vehicle.
