The Opel Zafira Tourer gets two new engines

When our test team put the Opel Zafira Tourer 2.0 CDTi to the test in mid-last year, our colleague Diego Moreira noted that the most powerful diesel in the Zafira range at that time was an engine that could occasionally be asked for a sporty burst of power. However, what is coming to the Zafira now will be even better, as two new engines are being introduced, one of them a diesel with nearly 200 hp.

The new 2.0 CDTi diesel engine for the Tourer was already a known option within Opel, debuting in the Opel Insignia and also featured in the Astra range. Performance won’t keep you waiting: the twin-turbo two-litre will take the Tourer from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 218 km/h. Average consumption will be 5.6 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.

The other new engine option for the Zafira Tourer will be the 170 hp 1.6i petrol, making it the most powerful petrol engine the model can have. However, perhaps due to a shorter gearing than the diesel, the turbo petrol accelerates more slowly than the twin-turbo diesel, taking 9.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h; its top speed is also lower, at 212 km/h. Average consumption is 6.6 l/100 km, with emissions yet to be disclosed.

These two new versions are only offered with the 7-seat Excellence trim level. Prices in our country, including the discount, range from €29,602 for the twin-turbo diesel to €26,902 for the petrol model with the new 1.6.
