Volkswagen Touareg 20th Anniversary: the special edition to celebrate the birthday

It has been 20 years since the largest SUV in Volkswagen in Europe, the Touareg, arrived on the market. So the German brand has wanted to pay a fine tribute to the model and has launched a 20th Anniversary special edition. A version that stands out for several reasons and that will allow buyers to enjoy a car with a distinctive look and loaded with elements that help it stand out from the rest of the versions.

On the exterior, the colour chosen for the bodywork stands out. Meloe Blue enhances the look of the SUV, but it is not the only thing that sets this special edition apart from the rest on the market. In addition, the 20-inch alloy wheels add a sporty touch and enhance the overall look. But there is more.

The rear windows are tinted, the rear light clusters feature LED technology, and the B-pillar is marked with the Edition 20 badge, signalling its belonging to this special edition. To complete the exterior look, the front diffuser and wheel arches come with a Black Glossy finish.

Inside, they have added several elements referring to the anniversary. For example, as soon as you open the door, you find the backlit plates with the inscription Edition 20 in the door frame. The seats are upholstered in Savona Black leather with red stitching to provide contrast.

The same colour has also been applied to the dashboard and door panels. The Edition 20 badges are repeated on the gear lever and below the passenger’s air vent.

Engines of the special edition

The Volkswagen Touareg Edition 20 offers several engines for the buyer to choose from, so that they can find the one that best suits their needs. Among them, a 3.0-litre TDI V6 diesel engine stands out, with two power levels. The lower one delivers 231 CV and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The second option offers 286 CV and a maximum torque of 600 Nm.

The petrol option is represented by a TSI V6 engine producing 340 CV and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. Another option is the plug-in hybrid engine, which delivers a total of 381 CV and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. All these engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. The towing capacity is 3,500 kg, so we are looking at a powerful, efficient and practical SUV.

The Volkswagen Touareg Edition 20 will arrive in June 2022, and orders have already opened in certain markets. The price in Germany has been set at 77,530 euros.
