Volkswagen wants to unveil a new electric prototype at the Paris Motor Show

Dieselgate has taken a heavy toll on the image of Volkswagen, so it comes as no surprise that it is trying to wipe that stain from its record. To achieve this, the German company’s management is determined to showcase several prototypes that will run on electricity, doing everything possible to stop emitting polluting gases in its future models.
That is why Volkswagen has announced that it will attend the French show with a new 100% electric prototype, which it is working to have fully ready for display at the Paris Motor Show. We still don’t know much about this new proposal, though we have been told it will be roughly the size of the Volkswagen Golf, although it will aim to offer features from the Passat, such as a larger boot, to make it more appealing to families.
An electric car for all drivers
The range of this car is expected to fall between 400 and 600 kilometres, which is quite attractive for its commercial launch. To achieve this they will need to work on new batteries, so this prototype may not come with the final battery. Developing the battery will require the team to put in place the equipment needed to deliver the desired result.
After the Budd-e, more electric prototypes will arrive under the Volkswagen brandThe company’s comments suggest it could be considering building a battery factory in China, which would be where the batteries for the various electric models Volkswagen is preparing for the coming years would be manufactured. In fact, the brand says it will pursue up to 25 different fully electric models that could be of interest to its buyers and useful to users.
What stands out is that with this push from a major carmaker, electric cars could become the stars of other manufacturers’ future plans. We hope this momentum helps ensure the investment drives technology forward and brings important innovations in this area, right?
