ID.Buzz Volkswagen Electric Cars Furgonetas
Volkswagen will offer a lower-capacity battery pack for the ID. Buzz
With this move, the German manufacturer hopes its electric van will reach a larger number of potential customers.
The Commercial Vehicles division of Volkswagen is preparing a new entry-level version of its ID. Buzz electric van, which will feature a lower-capacity battery pack to position it below the price of the current model. In addition, the company also plans to increase production volume this year of the new version with the longer wheelbase, as well as the GTX version with all-wheel drive that we will see in Europe.
In statements to German media, Lars Krause, member of the marketing board of the Commercial Vehicles division of Volkswagen, recently announced that this more affordable new ID. Buzz will have a 62 kWh battery pack. However, Krause did not provide details about the launch date or the price.

The company will begin production of this new version of the ID. Buzz in line with the launch this year of the GTX versions and the one with the longer wheelbase. If everything goes according to plan, in 2024, 35 thousand units of the ID. Buzz will roll off the production line. The company plans to produce, in the second half of this year alone, twice as many units as in 2023. The German manufacturer’s plans are, however, much more ambitious, as in the medium term the company expects to reach an annual production volume exceeding 100 thousand units.
The ID. Buzz could be one of Volkswagen’s most successful electric models, as it has practically no similar competitors
Looking further ahead, by 2030, Volkswagen expects 55% of the brand’s vehicles sold to be electric. In this regard, the company believes that in Europe electric propulsion will be the most popular in the van segment in just three or four years. This forecast takes into account the fact that in the coming years, vans with combustion engines will not be able to enter many European cities.

Furthermore, the product range of the Commercial Vehicles division of Volkswagen will soon be expanded with the addition of new electric models. The new generation of the Volkswagen Transporter, which will be manufactured in Turkey by Ford Otosan based on the Transit Custom, will also have an electric version. Meanwhile, the new Volkswagen Crafter will arrive in 2028 and will be based on a fully electric platform.
